Help!

Can you help me?

We want to do better at memorizing Scripture as a family- in both languages.  Does anyone know of a good Scripture Memory Plan?  My kids are 9, 7, and 4 (although my brain functions at about a 2 year old level so keep that in mind, too!).

Or... what Scriptures been most meaningful to you?

I am thinking throughout the year we'd like to memorize Scripture that confirms what we believe, reminds us to obey our authorities, says who we are in Christ, helps us to act right, etc.

The best technique I have found effective is to break down the verses in 3-4 word phrases. Write each phrase on different colors of paper and lay them out in order with the reference being one of the slips of paper at the end.
Read the verse out loud together a few times. Then remove one of the pieces of paper and read it aloud again, recalling the one piece of the verse that you took away by memory. Then take away another random piece and read aloud again. Keep repeating that until all the pieces are gone. And then finally say it aloud several times with no pieces in front of you. If you get stuck, replace just one piece and see if it will jog your memory. This works because you remember the pieces by the color and the group of words it that surrounds it. Also, of course, hanging scripture places where you see a lot,, like the bathroom mirror, the refrigerator, above the kitchen sink, etc.

A fun way for the kids is Seeds Family Worship. If you don't want to buy the CD, you can watch the videos online on utube. Cute sing a long songs to scripture. Might be a fun way to introduce scripture memory to the kiddos.
