A Field Trip: A view from the Walls

Sorry to be dragging this out so long!  But, as you can plainly see, there are LOTS of pictures to share!  Don't worry, though, this is the last post with pictures from the old city walls!

This final set of photos is views from the walls.  Because it takes us so long to get anywhere, the sun was starting to set towards the end of our visit.

A Field Trip: The Walls

This is the third installment of posts about our family's adventure exploring our city's walls.  I started with this post about the cemetery, and then followed it with this post about the area surrounding the walls.

This post is about the walls themselves.   I don't really have captions for them.  They're just pictures of the walls and a few of our family, too.   Here are the pictures that I managed to capture:

A Field Trip

One upon a time...

when this city was the center of civilization, it was surrounded by huge fortified walls and barricades.

Fast forward a few years and now the forts and walls are in a bit of ruins.  But they are still absolutely fascinating.  The other day our family decided to go explore a section of the walls.

Typically there are houses and all sorts of oddity built right into the walls.  And, because of the ancient nature of the walls, they are flanked by ancient things, too.  This is especially interesting to us as we are held captive in a cement high-rise.

I am going to share some of the pictures that I took.  I'll break it up into a few days so you don't fall out in a coma.  But, as you know, I am trying to develop my photography skills.  That means taking pictures... lots and lots and lots of pictures.

These pictures were taken on that day.

Today I'll post pictures of the area surrounding the walls.  Monday I'll post pictures of the walls.  And Tuesday I'll post pictures of views from the walls.

These pictures were taken just before the holiday.  That is why every house has laundry hanging outside.  The locals even used the park to hang their laundry and carpets out!
